I originally found out about this company through a neighbor, and so I called them for an estimate. I am extremely happy with the end result of my roof, and remain impressed with the politeness and professionalism of both the people that work at the office, and everyone that I know worked on my roof. Through Jordan Huff, I got some of your cards and give them to pretty much anyone who even mentions needing to get their roof fixed. I've gotten so many compliments on my roof, and that just assures me even more that Universal Roof & Contracting was the right decision. I hope your company keeps up the fantastic work and continues to do well in the future. Thank you again! Gisi Taglieri

I would highly recommend this company! Exceptional Workmanship and quality. Parker and the entire team were a pleasure to work with. Great job from start to finish, extremely tidy throughout the entire process! Just a fantastic company altogether.
After getting extensive damage to our roof and gutter guards after a hail storm, my husband and I asked Universal Roofing to take a look. We had used them in 2015 after storm damage. Their estimator David Alger was super. He spent a lot of time looking at our roof and taking pictures to prepare himself to speak to an agent of our insurance company. He met with him as he surveyed our roof, and the roof replacement was ultimately approved, along with gutters and guards. David explained the process and turned over the reins to the production department. An extremely well presented construction outline was given to us and all items to date have been completed, except gutters and chimney siding replacement which has been scheduled for the near future. The Production Manager Daniel Elek could not have been more helpful. He made us feel as if we were their only customers, which is far from the usual. He made sure that any potential issues in the future could hopefully be circumvented. Saw that flashing by chimney was iffy and replaced that. Our on site supervisor for Universal Anthony Pianis has been by our side from start to finish, answering the many questions we had, reassuring us when necessary. Being a roofer himself in the past, he new the way things should be done. Only one way, the right way. It was very comforting, and we are very great full. I think any roofing company would love to have him- and Daniel- as an employee. I guess the best compliment you can give a company is return business.
I contacted Universal Roof & Contracting several months ago for an estimate on a new roof for my 3300 square foot house as well as contacting 4 other roofing companies. I knew very little about roofs except that I needed a new one. Marty Liles, Universal's agent, was the second of the 5 estimates that I received. I found him extremely knowledgable, very helpful and easy to work with. Marty wasn't just sent to my house to measure the roof and get back to me with a price. He took his time to explain the differences in products and recommended what he thought was appropriate for my house. When I got the 5 bids I was very confused. Marty was the only representative that was willing to come back to my house and explain the differences in the proposals that I had received. He basically differentiated between the apples and oranges that I had received as quotes for my new roof. I had a comfort level with Marty that the other sales people did not provide. I decided to use Universal based upon the feeling of trust and integrity Marty exuded. The price ended up comparable to the lowest offer for what I wanted ( not a bait and switch scenario I was wary of). The roof was scheduled to be installed about 2-3 weeks after I committed. I was contacted by Ben Daniels, project manager for Universal, to put my job on the calendar. He was very professional and also easy to work with. Ben said it would likely take 2 full days due to size of my house. On the day the roof was to be installed about 8 guys showed up at my house at 6:45am along with Ben. I think by 7am they were working on replacing my old roof with a brand new one. They worked straight through until lunchtime. After lunch they started back to work and after approximately 30 minutes it started to rain. They covered the house so that the there would be no damage. Instead of calling it a day, the roofers stayed at my house until the rain blew over about 20 minutes later. At about 3pm another 4 workers joined the 8 that were already working at my house. They all stayed (12 guys!) until the job was completed. By that time I had neighbors who were home from work and came over to check things out. No one could believe that such a large roof was installed in just 1 day! Not to mention that the new roof looked great and enhanced the beauty and value of my home. All I can say is that I had a fantastic experience with Universal and would highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a roof or repair. I found Universal to be a highly reputable company with employees who were definitely customer friendly and professional. Charles
I was very happy 😊 and satisfied with the our new roof that was installed by Universal roofing company. They have a very organized team that coordinate everything to make everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Marty was the one that coordinate everything for us to make everything perfect and on time. I was very impressed with his skills and not to mention his professionalism. Thank you again Marty for your excellent work.
What a great company. I had a roof leak that had been there for some time. The installer kept saying they couldn’t find it. David Alger came out, spotted it right away. It was in a difficult area, but he came up with a plan that was also reasonably priced. His team came out, fixed the roof, cleaned up after themselves and were done in a few hours. The entire team was so knowledgeable & professional. It’s been over a month now, and we have had a lot of rain! Not one drop leaked. Very happy. I will use Universal in the future and when it’s time, I will use them to replace the roof. 100% satisfied!
Devon Y. is extremely professional, possesses in-depth industry knowledge, and represents Universal Roof very well! He provided us with a thorough overview of the condition of our roof and options for repair. We look forward to working with him and Universal Roof!
Universal did an incredible job on my new roof. Michael and his team did everything I asked of them the the roof exceeded my expiration. So I would definitely recommend this company.
We are very happy with our new roof. House looks brand new. Shout out to Karson Malonney for all his help and kindness .

Riverside Homes and What Their Roofs Face
The weather those roofs answer to is measurable. NOAA's 1991–2020 normals for the Jacksonville station put annual rainfall at 53.4 inches, with 54% of it falling June through September and 7.6 inches in June alone. Most of that rain arrives in summer storms, often wind-driven, and it finds any weak flashing detail on Riverside rooflines quickly.
Humidity, sun, and that rainfall all work on Riverside roofs, and edges, penetrations and fasteners are where we start every inspection.
Storms Riverside Has Answered To
Riverside sits in the Atlantic storm region, and the record is specific: Nicole (2022) — November landfall at Vero Beach; storm surge and beach erosion damage up the east coast to Jacksonville (NOAA/NHC TCR AL172022). Matthew (2016) — paralleled the northeast Florida coast; significant wind and surge damage from the Space Coast to Jacksonville (NOAA/NHC TCR AL142016).
After any of those, the useful thing a homeowner can do is document from the ground: photograph what is visible, note the date, check ceilings that night and again a week later. Then get a professional assessment before small openings become interior damage. We run storm routes across Duval County and put findings in writing with photographs — no scare tactics, no inflated damage lists.
Roofing Services in Riverside
Everything the Northeast Florida crews do runs through Riverside: roof repair, full replacement installed to manufacturer specification, free documented inspections, storm response, commercial systems, and the roof edge — soffit, fascia and seamless gutters. Materials: metal, architectural shingle, tile, and our exclusive Metlok system.
Universal Roof & Contracting has been family-owned since 1993 — state-licensed (CCC057165 & CBC1258484), fully insured, BBB-accredited with an A+ rating, and an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, a tier held by fewer than 1% of roofing contractors. Estimates are free and itemized; the inspection comes back as photographs and a written report you keep either way.
Riverside Roofing Questions
Is the inspection really free?
Yes — photos, honest findings, and a written condition report, free, whether or not you hire us for anything. Many inspections end with 'you're fine, here's what to watch.'
How long do roofs last in Riverside?
In Riverside plan on about 20 years from architectural shingle and more than 50 from clay or concrete tile with proper care, based on a National Association of Home Builders study. Metal life depends on the product, so ask for its warranty term. The installer's discipline matters more to those numbers than the brand on the wrapper.
Can a handyman repair a roof in Florida?
No. Florida's licensing agency says roof repairs and roof installations require a state license. Verify the license and insurance before hiring anyone. Universal Roof & Contracting is state-licensed (CCC057165 & CBC1258484) and fully insured.
