All around awesome experience starting with Archie, then Rachel and then Bailey who helped a great deal and was great working with! Universal did an awesome job tieing in a flat roof with a pitched roof! The only feedback I would give is more Communication is needed with deliveries as a semi showed up to drive on a paver driveway which I would not allow. Someone needs to figure that out in advance. But otherwise very happy with Universal Roof!

Had a great experience with Jessica and Matt. Multiple updates throughout the entire process. I highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again in the future.
Universal Roofing comes highly recommended !!! Walked me through every step of the way, workers all professional, highly motivated and courteous !!! Dylan, Bailey and Omar , as well as all the workers were phenomenal !!! Bailey, Project Manager even helped me with a small electrical issue. Absolutely wonderful and a Beautiful Roof was the result !!! Thank you so much Ken, Owner/President who also worked with me !!!
If you need a roof, don't hesitate to call Universal Roof and Contracting. I just finished having my second roof installed on my home after issues with my homeowner's insurance renewal. From the salesman to the project manager and office staff, everyone was courteous and helpful. An unrelated leak developed while waiting for my job to get started, and I received immediate assistance and follow-up phone calls to make sure the repair was holding after heavy rain. The team showed genuine care for their customer, and it's what I remembered during my first experience in 2004. Nothing has changed, and I highly recommend their services.
Mike with Universal was spectacular! He came to our home for our consultation, was prepared, professional, informative & respectful of our budget for our reroof & our water damage repair from Hurricane Milton. He was easy to reach, his communication was seamless and the follow through was perfection.
Archie, at Universal, was super knowledgeable and helpful. Gave us a reasonable quote, then got the job done on time. Highly recommended.
Universal Roof did an excellent job with our roof. Scott and his crew were professional and detail-oriented; from set up to clean up, we were kept informed every step of the way. We would recommend Universal Roof 100%!
When problems came up, Zach went out of his way to solve them for me before I had a chance to take issue with them. The young man deserves a raise or a promotion, otherwise a competitor should recruit him... great customer service!
There are many fly by might roofing companies, but Universal Roof and Contracting is NOT one of them. Everyone from our salesman Mike, to the office staff Olga and Raquel, to our project manager Tony have been great! I would have no issues personally referring friend and family to this team, and fully plan on actually recommending Mike and Tony from URC to anyone I know that needs a roof. Thanks for the awesome job and experience!

Universal Roof & Contracting serves Winter Garden with every major roofing service — repair, replacement, inspections, storm response, gutters, and all four mainstream roof systems — from our Greater Orlando office. Family-owned since 1993, BBB-accredited with an A+ rating, and Owens Corning Platinum Preferred. This page is the whole picture in one place; every section links to the full service behind it.
What Winter Garden Does to a Roof
Three forces set the terms for every roof in Winter Garden. Understand them and every material and maintenance decision on this page makes sense.
Sun
Strong sun breaks down shingle asphalt and fades finishes over time, so Florida roofs need regular checks.
Humidity
Inland Florida trades salt for humidity: algae grows on shaded slopes, and poor attic ventilation traps heat and moisture under the roof.
Storms
Summer squall lines and the occasional named storm bring hard, wind-driven rain that finds every weak detail.
51.45"
annual rainfall at the Orlando Intl Ap station
57%
of it falls June through September
8.05"
in June alone — the peak month

Roof Repair in Winter Garden
Roof damage in Winter Garden often starts small and moves fast once water finds a path. Catching it early is the whole game.

A Winter Garden repair call gets a whole-roof look, not a spot patch: the damage you reported, then the surrounding field, every flashing, and every penetration — because the second leak is usually forming near the first. If the honest answer is a repair, that's the recommendation you get in writing.
Active water gets stopped first: tarp or seal on the spot where access allows, permanent repair scheduled right behind it, photos of both in your records.
Wind-lifted tabs
One good gust finds every marginal fastener. Small patch now, or decking work later.
Granules in the gutters
Shingle surfaces shedding — the field is aging, and it's time to watch it.
Water marks inside
The drip point is almost never below the entry point. Finding the real path is the job.
Flashing and fastener wear
A common leak point, and one Florida weather works on early.
Roof Replacement
What actually drives a replacement quote — and how concealed damage is handled if tear-off uncovers it.

A completed Universal replacement — one to three days on most homes.
A replacement here isn't a shingle swap — it's a system: decking inspected once opened, underlayment and ventilation installed to the manufacturer's actual specification, flashing detailed at every transition. That's what lets an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred contractor (fewer than 1% of roofing contractors hold the tier) back the work with warranties most roofers can't offer.
You see the whole scope line by line before signing, and the approved price is the built price unless tear-off uncovers concealed damage no one could see — which you approve before we fix it. Most Winter Garden homes are finished in one to three days. If the roof edge is also near end-of-life, we'll tell you, and doing soffit, fascia, and gutters with the roof saves a second mobilization.
Size, pitch & complexity
Cut-up roofs with dormers and valleys take longer than simple gables — and price accordingly.
Tear-off & decking
How many layers come up, and what the decking looks like once exposed. You approve anything it reveals.
The material system
Shingle, metal, tile, or slate — specified for Florida exposure, not upsold.
Flashing & ventilation
The details that separate a code-minimum job from one that reaches its rated life.
Every Winter Garden replacement starts with the free inspection.
Roof Inspections
In Winter Garden we recommend checking your roof twice a year, in spring and fall, plus after any major storm. Our professional inspection is free, with a written report you keep either way.
Field & fasteners
Wear, granule loss, and fastener condition across the whole covering.
Flashing & penetrations
Common leak points, so we check every boot, valley, and transition.
The roof edge
Soffit, fascia, and gutters for rot, separation, and pest entry.
The attic side
Moisture staining, ventilation problems, and daylight where there shouldn't be any.
Findings come back as photographs and a written condition report — not a verbal opinion from the driveway. Many inspections end with "you're fine, here's what to watch," and the report is yours whether or not you ever hire us. If you're buying or selling in Orange County, the same visit produces the roof documentation the transaction needs, from a licensed contractor rather than a checklist service.

Storm Damage in Winter Garden
Being inland doesn't excuse a roof in Winter Garden. Irma crossed the middle of the state as a hurricane, and Milton brought hurricane-force gusts to Central Florida. After it passes, a five-minute ground check tells you whether to call.
01 Scan from the ground
Lifted or missing shingles across the field, sagging lines at ridge and edges.
02 Check the gutters
Granule wash-out after a storm means the surface took a beating.
03 Walk the yard
Blown-off material in the grass is the roof telling you where to look.
04 Look up inside
Ceilings and closet corners: small openings let water reach the decking.
05 Note the date and call
Photograph what you can see safely; we put findings in writing with photos.
Irma
crossed Central Florida as a hurricane; minor to moderate damage to many structures, widespread tree damage (NOAA/NHC TCR AL112017)
Milton
hurricane-force gusts in Central Florida near the track; 14.83" of rain recorded near Orlando (NOAA/NHC TCR AL142024)
We bring same-week assessments across Orange County, emergency tarping when the roof needs immediate protection, and a written, photographed damage report — what happened and what fixing it involves, no scare tactics. Material choice is storm strategy too: every system carries its own tested wind rating, so we show you the rating for the exact product before you choose.
Residential Roofing
Asphalt shingle is the default on many Winter Garden homes, but the default isn't automatically the right answer for your house.

65.7% of occupied homes in Winter Garden are owner-occupied, and the median owner-occupied home value is $476,000 (U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts, 2020–2024). Ours is the math of protecting that investment: the right system, installed to specification, maintained on a schedule.
We install every mainstream system — shingle, metal, tile, and flat — so the recommendation follows your house and budget, not whichever material a contractor happens to sell. The full comparison is below.
The house & neighborhood
Age, style, and what the street is built around — a roof has to belong where it lives.
Your ownership horizon
Selling in five years and staying thirty produce different right answers.
Budget, now vs. 30 years
Upfront cost against lifetime cost — repairs, energy, and how many more roofs you'll buy.
Installation quality
The same materials last longer or fail early depending on underlayment, ventilation, and flashing work.
Not sure which of these your roof needs?
The free inspection answers it with photos and a written report.
Commercial Roofing
A commercial roof in Winter Garden protects inventory, equipment, and people, and it is built under the Florida Building Code, rated among the strongest of the hurricane-coast states by IBHS.

Think in decades, not years: compare lifetime cost, not just this quarter's price. TPO's energy efficiency, metal's wind performance, and modified bitumen's proven simplicity each earn their place depending on the deck, the budget, and how long you plan to hold the building.
Our maintenance plans put inspections, drain clearing, and membrane repairs on a schedule for Orange County buildings — with the documentation trail kept current, which matters at sale time and any time the roof's history gets examined.
The 25% rule
If more than 25% of a roof section is repaired or replaced within 12 months, the whole section must meet current code, unless the roof was built to the 2007 Florida Building Code or later.
Licensing & permits
Commercial roof repairs and installations require a Florida-licensed contractor, and most need a permit from the local building department.
System choice
TPO for energy efficiency; metal for hurricane resistance and lifespan; modified bitumen where the deck calls for it.
Maintenance cadence
Annual and post-storm inspections, clear drains, prompt membrane repairs — where commercial roofs are won or lost.
Gutters, Soffit & Fascia
In Winter Garden, the roof edge is a common place for water damage to start: soffit, fascia, and gutters can fail quietly before anyone notices.

The repair-or-replace call at the edge is simpler than the roof's: contained damage gets patched, widespread rot gets replaced, and either way the smart schedule pairs edge work with a roof project or lands it in fall before storm season. We spec vinyl soffit, aluminum fascia, and seamless gutters as the default Florida kit.
Soft or spongy fascia
The material underneath is already compromised — past the repair window.
Stains on exterior walls
Water escaping the drainage path and running where it shouldn't.
Sagging, overflowing gutters
Chronic overflow usually means repairs are no longer keeping up.
Rust at the seams
Sectional gutters fail at their joints — seamless aluminum has far fewer of them.

| System | Realistic Florida life | Wind rating (installed right) | Cost tier | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metal (standing seam) | Varies by product; ask for the warranty term | Product-specific; we show you the rating | $$$ | Longevity, storms, energy bills |
| Architectural shingle | About 20 years | Class H shingles: rated for design wind speeds up to 194 mph | $ | Value, fast storm repairs |
| Tile (clay/concrete) | Over 50 years | High, code-driven | $$$ | Permanence, the Florida look |
| Metlok (only at Universal) | 50-year limited lifetime warranty | 180+ mph tested wind rating | $$$ | Longevity, high-wind exposure |
What moves every quote regardless of material: pitch and complexity, the product tier within the material, specialist labor where tile demands it, and structural reinforcement when weight requires it. Florida law also requires insurers to offer premium credits for wind-resistant construction features — a wind mitigation inspection documents what your roof qualifies for.

Winter Garden Roofing Questions
How long do roofs last in Winter Garden?
Realistic numbers for Winter Garden: architectural asphalt shingle about 20 years and clay or concrete tile more than 50 years with proper care, based on a National Association of Home Builders study. Metal life depends on the product, so ask for its warranty term. Installation quality decides which end of the range your roof lands on.
Repair or replace — how do you decide?
Two questions decide it: how contained is the damage, and how much life does the field have left? Contained plus years remaining equals repair; spreading wear or a roof in its last stretch equals a replacement conversation, since patch money on a dying roof rarely buys much time. Either way, our recommendation comes documented.
What should I do right after storm damage?
Three things: stay off the roof, photograph what's visible from the ground with the date, and get professional eyes up there quickly, because even small openings let water reach the decking. We run storm assessments across Orange County with tarping available the same visit where roofs need immediate protection.
Can a handyman repair a roof in Florida?
Not legally. Florida's licensing agency says roof repairs and roof installations require a state license. Ask for the license number before hiring anyone; ours are CCC057165 & CBC1258484.
What does a roof replacement cost in Winter Garden?
No honest number exists without seeing the roof — size, pitch, tear-off depth, decking condition, and the material system move the total more than any average can capture. What we promise Winter Garden homeowners instead: a free inspection first, then a line-by-line estimate where the approved price is the built price.
Is the inspection really free?
Yes — photos, honest findings, and a written condition report, free, whether or not you hire us for anything. Many inspections end with 'you're fine, here's what to watch.'
How long does a roof installation take?
Most residential replacements finish in one to three days. Tile and complex roofs run longer, and commercial projects range from days to weeks by size. We give you a realistic window up front.
What time of year is best for roof work here?
Any month works — this is Florida, and roofs can't wait on weather windows anyway. Given the choice, fall wins: easier on crews and materials, and the new roof is in place ahead of storm season rather than behind it.
