The Materials We'll Put on Your Roof — And Why

There are okay roofing materials, and there are the best ones, and the difference is more than the price tag. We've selected every product we install to survive Florida — and to carry warranties worth the paper they're written on.

How our products stand out

Five things that separate a roof from a good roof

Plenty of roofing companies claim to offer the best of everything. Here's specifically what we mean by it.

Product warranties

As Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractors, we can offer the Platinum Protection warranty, the one Owens Corning extended warranty that only Platinum contractors can offer: a limited lifetime warranty with full coverage on materials for the first 50 years and workmanship coverage that reduces after 25 years. We're also Florida High-Wind Certified for concrete and clay tile roofing, and we meet factory-trained warranty criteria for several metal roofing manufacturers. Whatever material you choose, you're covered against product defects and the rare installation mishap.

The products we stand behind

In 30+ years we've seen a lot of roofing products come and go. We've tried plenty of them. What stayed on our trucks are the systems that hold up to Florida heat, UV, wind-driven rain, and hurricane season — not the ones with the best margin.

A genuinely wide selection

Asphalt shingle, tile, metal, stone-coated steel, and low-slope systems, in the colors and profiles that suit your home's architecture. More choice means you're picking the right roof, not the only roof your contractor stocks.

Brand names you can look up

We install manufacturer-backed products from names you can research, verify, and hold accountable — starting with Owens Corning. A warranty is only as good as the company behind it.

More effective as a system

A roof isn't a pile of shingles — it's a system. Underlayment, ventilation, flashing, and fasteners all have to work together, which is why the manufacturer's best warranties require the complete system installed to spec.

Metlok is our own roofing system— researched, developed, and tested by Universal Roof & Contracting, then manufactured in our own Florida factory. After 30+ years of replacing Florida roofs, we knew exactly what this climate does to every material on the market. So we stopped waiting for someone else to build the right one.

That's why you can only get it through us: we design it, we make it, and our own factory-trained crews install it. When the manufacturer and the installer are the same company, there's nobody to point a finger at — and the 50-year warranty is backed by the people who built the panel and put it on your house.

A patent-pending four-way interlock

Every panel mechanically locks to the next on all four sides — one continuous, weather-tight system instead of a stack of overlapping pieces.

AZ50 galvalume, not G90

A more corrosion-resistant grade than the G90 in most metal roofing — which matters where salt air reaches a long way inland.

Metlok pressed-steel panel in the shake profile

Metal-class strength, a fraction of the weight

About 108 pounds per square against roughly 970 for concrete tile — far less dead load on your structure.

Four profiles, a full range of colorways

Slate, shake, shingle, and barrel — same pressed-steel system underneath, same 50-year warranty. Down to the matte black trim details. We'll bring samples to your free inspection.
