Having a re-roof is a stressful time but I knew to call Universal Roofing Inc from my previous experience with them from my old address. It's a step-by-step process (weather permitting) which Tracy (V.P.) walked me through. From customer service, explanation of roof products, to permits and completion was less stressful having an experienced company... and roof looks great! Thank you Universal Roofing Inc.

Universal roofing did an amazing job. Everyone I worked with was very professional and polite. They professionally helped me out throughout the entire process. In the middle of summer it only took them a day and a half and I have a wonderful roof.

Seamless gutters are formed on site from a continuous coil to the exact length of each run, so the only joins in the system are at corners and outlets. That matters in Florida, because the volume of water a roof here sheds finds every seam — and a gutter that overflows or pulls loose does more damage to the fascia board it hangs on than having no gutter at all.

Why it matters here

Gutters do more in Florida than they do anywhere else

This is not a cosmetic upgrade. In this rainfall, the gutter is a working part of the roof system — and when it fails it takes the roof edge with it.

Florida rain volume is the whole problem

Orlando alone averages about 51 inches of rain a year, with roughly eight of them arriving in August. A gutter sized for a milder climate simply overflows here, and an overflowing gutter is worse than no gutter at all.

They protect the fascia they hang on

The board a gutter is bolted to is the first thing it destroys when it fails. Overflow, back-up and sagging all pour water directly down the fascia — one of the most common causes of edge rot we find.

And the ground around the house

Water dumped at the foundation line finds its way to slabs, landscaping and anything stored low. Downspouts that discharge properly are half of what a gutter system is actually for.

What we do

Installation, repair, replacement and guards

Seamless installation

Formed on site to the exact length of each run, so the only joins are at corners and outlets. Fewer seams means fewer places to leak — which is the entire argument for seamless over sectional.

Repair and re-hang

Sagging runs, pulled fasteners, separated corners, leaking outlets and pitch that no longer drains. Often the fix is a re-hang and re-pitch rather than replacement.

Replacement

When the run is corroded, repeatedly patched, or was undersized from the start. Replacement is also the sensible moment to correct downspout placement.

Gutter guards

Worth it under heavy tree cover, less so on an open lot. We'll say which one you are — a guard on a gutter that doesn't clog is money spent on nothing.

Sizing

Many Florida homes are under-guttered

Many Florida homes need a larger gutter and more downspouts than the builder fitted. An undersized system is why so many Florida gutters sheet water over the front edge in a normal August storm — the trough simply cannot carry what the roof is delivering.

Sizing is not just about the trough. The number and placement of downspouts matters as much, and the largest valley on the roof matters most of all — a big valley funnels an enormous volume into one short section of gutter, and that is almost always where an undersized system fails first.

Getting it right is the difference between a gutter that works for twenty years and one that quietly destroys the fascia behind it.

Signs yours aren't coping

  • Water sheeting over the front edge during any real rain
  • A run that has visibly pulled away from the fascia
  • Staining or peeling paint on the board behind the gutter
  • Standing water still sitting in the trough after rain stops
  • Erosion, splash-back or pooling directly below the roofline
  • Seams weeping at corners or outlets

Gutter questions, answered

What does seamless gutter installation cost in Florida?

It's priced by the linear foot, and the figure depends on the material, the size of the profile, how high the runs are and how many corners and downspouts the roof needs. We measure and quote in writing rather than estimating over the phone. If we're already up there for a roof inspection, the gutter assessment costs you nothing extra.

What does 'seamless' actually mean?

The gutter is formed on site from a continuous coil to the exact length of each run, so the only joins in the whole system are at corners and outlets. Sectional gutter comes in fixed lengths joined every few feet, and every one of those joins is a future leak. In Florida rain volumes, that difference shows up quickly.

What size gutter do I need?

Many Florida homes need a larger gutter and more downspouts than the builder fitted, and the downspout count matters as much as the trough size. Roof area, pitch and the size of the largest valley all feed into it — a big valley dumps an enormous volume into one short section of gutter, and that's usually where an undersized system fails first. We size every run to the roof it serves.

Can my gutters be repaired instead of replaced?

Frequently. Sagging runs, pulled fasteners, separated corners and lost pitch are all repairable, and a re-hang costs a fraction of a replacement. Replacement makes sense when the material is corroded, the run has been patched repeatedly, or it was undersized for this climate from the beginning.

Are gutter guards worth it?

It depends entirely on your tree cover. Under oaks and pines they genuinely reduce cleaning and prevent the back-ups that rot fascia. On an open lot they solve a problem you don't have. We'll tell you which situation you're in rather than selling guards by default.

Do gutters cause fascia rot, or does fascia rot cause gutter problems?

Usually the gutter goes first. An overflowing or detached gutter pours water directly down the fascia board it's bolted to, and the board softens until the fasteners lose their grip — at which point the gutter sags further and accelerates the whole thing. That's why we look at both together, and why replacing one without checking the other is usually a wasted trip.

Do you install gutters as part of a roof replacement?

Yes, and it's the sensible time to do it. The drip edge, fascia and gutter all meet at the same line, so fitting them together means the water path is right from deck to downspout rather than three trades each assuming someone else handled it.

Which areas do you cover?

The Orlando metro, Tampa Bay and the Jacksonville area — 22 counties, with crews based in all three markets.
