Universal Roofing just installed a beautiful new roof to our home. We have been so satisfied with them that this is the third time we have used this company throughout the years. Universal was so professional, knowledgeable and honest. The city inspector even mentioned that he was impressed with their work. We highly recommend hiring Universal for all of your roofing needs.

Universal Roof and Contracting was a wonderful company to do business with. The first appointment with their salesman was on time. He spent a couple of hours with us going over everything. Our salesperson, Justin, was honest and upfront and did not try to oversell. He was very professional. When they gave us a start time, they showed up on time with eight people. They put the dumpster in and by 4:00 pm the roof was completely finished. The workers were professional, neat, and kept the area clean.
I just referred them to one of my neighbors. They were a very good company, especially the first time I met with David, the salesperson. He was professional and had so much knowledge about what I wanted to get done. They worked diligently with me and my husband when we ran into some problems because it's an older home. It's so outstanding, I know I'll give them other business from my other neighbors.
I am extremely pleased with my new roof. Tracy was wonderful during the process as was the office staff at Universal Roofing. It took a while to get the new roof in place. This was not their fault as tile is on back order. Tracy was proactive and kept me informed during the entire process. I am more than overjoyed with the outcome. If you need a new roof, I highly recommend their services!
Mike Ramos was the project manager on my roofing job. He kept me informed every step of the project. He insured the work was completed properly and with minimal disruption to our life. I would highly recommend Mike and URC to my friends and neighbors. Keep up the good work.
Getting a new roof can be scary, but this company made this process easy and affordable for me. I was very pleased with the customer service and quick and clean completion of the job with good attention to small details and response to my concerns. Thank you Ms. Diana and Tyler and crew.

What the coast does to a Jacksonville roof
Three coastal forces, three kinds of repair call — and why beach-side fixes use different parts than inland ones.
Salt air, working 24/7
Salt corrosion is a major concern for coastal homes — it's hardest on the metal parts of every roof, and steel near salt water wears faster than the same steel inland.
What we fix: The metal details that keep water out: corroded fasteners swapped, flashing and drip edge renewed, and coastal-rated materials specified on every fix near the water.
53 inches of rain a year
Jacksonville averages about 53 inches of rain a year, and more than half of it falls June through September, per NOAA climate normals.
What we fix: The leaks that volume finds: failed pipe boots, worn valleys, and soaked underlayment — traced to the source and repaired once, not patched twice.
Humidity that never quits
Jacksonville weather is rough on a roof, and we know what the humidity does to each material — it keeps a damaged roof from ever fully drying out.
What we fix: Moisture repairs: mildew-fed rot at the edges, attic moisture caught early, and the ventilation-adjacent fixes that let a roof dry between storms.

Roof leak repair in Jacksonville
Roof leak repair on the First Coast starts with a rule: the stain is not the leak. Atlantic wind drives rain into flashing seams and shingle edges that shed vertical rain fine, and the water rides decking and rafters before it ever drips — so the ceiling stain marks where it landed, not where it got in. Patching at the stain is how the same leak comes back twice.
We trace leaks upslope to the entry point, and when the source hides, we water-test the roof section by section until it shows itself. One diagnosis, one repair, at the actual hole.

From historic neighborhoods to the newest construction, the First Coast's housing spans a century — and older roofs bring older problems: aged decking, layered past repairs, materials nobody makes anymore. That's where 30+ years of Florida roofing earns its keep.
"They worked diligently with me and my husband when we ran into some problems because it's an older home. It's so outstanding, I know I'll give them other business from my other neighbors."
Roof leak repair starts with finding the leak
Roof leak repair done right begins with one hard truth: the stain on your ceiling is rarely under the hole in your roof. Water travels along decking and rafters before it drips — so we trace it back to the source. These are the six places we find most leaks.
Water travels before it drips — the entry point is usually upslope of the stain.
- 1
Chimney & wall flashing
The metal where the roof meets a chimney or wall is one of the most common leak sources we find. The sealant fails long before the metal does — and the lasting fix is new flashing, not another bead of caulk.
- 2
Pipe boots & vents
Every plumbing stack pierces the roof through a rubber boot, and Florida sun cooks those gaskets until they crack — then water runs straight down the pipe into the house.
- 3
Skylights
A skylight has its own flashing and its own seals. When one leaks, the culprit is almost always the perimeter — not the glass.
- 4
Valleys & dormers
Where two roof planes meet, twice the water funnels through one channel. Debris and worn valley metal make this the first place heavy rain gets in.
- 5
Wind-lifted shingles
A gust that breaks a shingle's seal strip doesn't always tear it off — it leaves it loose enough for the next storm to drive rain underneath.
- 6
Eaves & gutters
Clogged gutters back water up under the first course of shingles and rot the fascia behind them. This leak shows up at the wall, not the ceiling.
Source still not obvious? We water-test the roof section by section until the leak shows itself — diagnosis by evidence, not guesswork. It starts with a free inspection.
Storm damage on the First Coast, stabilized fast
Year-round sun, surprise storms, and hurricane season ever looming — on this coast there's no such thing as an overbuilt roof, and no such thing as a storm call we haven't run before.
Stabilize first
Homes taking on water get tarped first — a permanent fix that can't happen safely in the weather waits until it can.
Document everything first
Photos and a written report before anything else — a dated record of exactly what the storm did, made before repairs change the roof.
Repair for the next one
The lasting repair lands when the weather clears — built with coastal-rated parts, because the next storm is already on the calendar.
The Jacksonville roof mix, repaired

Shingle — what the coast does to it
Missing or broken shingles are the First Coast's most common repair call — ocean wind lifts tabs, sun bakes granules loose, and our crews know exactly what the coast does to them. Re-seals, patches, and color-matched sections, done before the leak starts.

Tile — Florida's climate roof
So many Jacksonville homeowners choose tile for exactly this climate — wind, rain, and heat. Cracked and slipped tiles, worn underlayment, and profile-matched swaps from a team with 30+ years setting clay and concrete.

Metal — coastal-rated or it doesn't go on
On metal roofs near salt water, material choice is the repair: aluminum and zinc resist salt corrosion better than bare steel, while steel needs quality protective coatings to keep pace. We swap corroded fasteners and renew flashing with parts rated for the coast.

Flat & low-slope — homes and businesses
One-stop shop means flat roofing too — ponding, seam failures, and membrane repairs on Florida rooms, additions, and the commercial buildings we've served for over 30 years.
Repairing an aging roof again and again? The repair-or-replacement framework gives you the honest math first.

When a repair won't hold anymore
On the First Coast, most roof calls end in a repair — and we'll tell you so plainly. But a roof failing in several places at once, or one that's simply run out of years, is money better spent on a full replacement. That's usually the case when:
Replacement usually wins when…
The failures are widespread — several leaks, or granules gone across full slopes
The roof has hit or passed the lifespan a Florida roof usually delivers
The same spot keeps needing another repair, season after season
The storm damage is widespread rather than isolated
Five steps. Zero surprises.
The same streamlined process on every roof — from an accurate quote to an impeccable installation.

Jacksonville roof repair, answered
Roof repair crews across the First Coast — Jacksonville plus Orange Park, Ponte Vedra Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Palm Coast, St. Augustine, Atlantic Beach, and Fernandina Beach. Don't see your town? We cover 180+ communities.
How much does roof repair cost in Jacksonville?
It depends on what the coast has actually done to your roof — a corroded drip edge is a different job from a leak that's soaked the underlayment. Every repair starts with a free inspection: we diagnose it, then hand you a written, itemized quote before any work begins. Financing is available for larger repairs.
Does salt air really wear out roofs faster?
Near the water, yes — salt corrosion is a major concern for coastal homes, and it works hardest on a roof's metal parts: fasteners, flashing, and drip edge. Steel near salt water typically wears faster than the same steel inland, while aluminum and zinc resist salt corrosion better than bare steel. It's why beach-side repairs get coastal-rated materials, not whatever's on the truck.
How do you find where a roof is leaking?
We trace it — Atlantic wind drives rain into seams that shed vertical rain fine, and the ceiling stain is rarely under the entry point because water travels along decking first. We check the usual suspects — flashing, pipe boots, valleys — and when the source hides, we water-test the roof section by section until the leak shows itself.
Can you repair roofs on older Jacksonville homes?
Yes — and older homes are exactly where experience earns its keep. Aged decking, layers of past work, and materials that are no longer made all complicate a repair, and our crews work through those problems rather than around them. As one customer put it after her older home's project: they "worked diligently with me and my husband when we ran into some problems because it's an older home."
What should I do after a storm damages my roof in Jacksonville?
Stay off the roof, and get the damage documented while it's still legible. Our storm team stabilizes first — same-day tarping when water is getting in — then photographs everything we find, roof and property, and puts it in a written, itemized report. That record is made before repairs change the roof, and it's yours to keep. We've documented storm damage on Florida roofs for over 25 years.
The coast never stops working on your roof. We don't either.
