Universal Roof & Contracting -- in particular Marty, who was our point person -- did an *excellent* job. For context, my parents have a unique flat roof and have had some negative experiences from roofing companies that portended to have expertise but fell short. Beyond lack of quality, these companies have often failed at communication and fundamental respect for clients. Universal, on the other hand, stands out in three ways: 1. Expertise and quality: Everyone who was a part of the project clearly had extensive knowledge of the different possible approaches, and the team executed the best approach effectively and efficiently. 2. Professionalism and respect: The team was extremely professional from the first interaction to the final questions my parents had about the work that was completed. Marty was extremely kind and respectful throughout all of our interactions. 3. Diligence and responsiveness: Relatedly, the team was on top of its timelines and always responsive. These are basic but critical elements that some companies are inconsistent at best at adhering to. Given the fragmented roofing industry, with many small companies offering similar sounding services, it can be hard to find a reliable organization. We are happy to have found Universal and highly recommend you give them a shot!

Working in the real estate industry, I unfortunately experience less than stellar contractors and repair jobs. My wife and I hired Universal to replace the roof on our home and we could not have been more pleased that we did. The communication was excellent from the start of the project to the finish. The follow through, problem solving, and professionalism exceeded our expectations. This company is one of the good ones! They have earned our trust, and therefore, we will definitively recommend them without reservation.

Great experience from beginning to end. After some bad experiences with other roofing companies, I spent more time researching before hiring a contractor. I had a roof leak, again, and after getting multiple quotes, I went with Universal. Not only was Charles Huber very professional, he consistently went above and beyond to help me throughout the repair. He showed me where the previous company had incorrectly installed the roof shingles and vents and provided me with repair options. The repair was seamless and I am very happy with the results. I would definitely recommend Universal to anyone needing a roof repaired or replaced.

I contacted Universal Roof and Contracting as well as 4 other local roofing companies to get an estimate for a new roof on my 3300 square foot older home located in the San Jose area of Jacksonville. I knew very little about roofs except that my house was in dire need of a new one! Marty Liles, Universal's agent, was the second person to come to my house and provide me with an estimate. He was by far the best of the 5 representatives. I found Marty extremely knowledgeable, very helpful and easy to work with. Marty wasn't just sent to my house to measure for a new roof and get back to me with a price. He took his time to explain the differences in products and recommended what he thought was appropriate for my house and my needs. Needless to say when I received and compared the five bids I was confused! Marty was the ONLY representative that offered to come back to my house and explain the differences in the proposals that I had received. He basically differentiated between the apples and the oranges so to speak. I had a comfort level with Marty that I did not feel with the other sales associates. Based upon this visit by Marty I chose Universal for my new roof. The bottom line price ended up being comparable to the lowest bid I had received. Now I was ready for the work to be done. The roof was scheduled to be installed about 2-3 weeks from the date that I committed to Universal. I dealt with Ben Daniels, project manager for Universal. He was very professional and also easy to work with. Ben set the expectations for the roof installation at 2 full days. On the day the roof was be installed about 8 guys showed up in the front of my house at 6:45am along with Ben. I think that by 7am they were working at replacing my old roof with a brand new one. They worked straight through until lunchtime. After the break for lunch they started back to work and after approximately 30 minutes it started to rain.The workers covered the house with tarps so that no harm would come to what had been done thus far. Instead of calling it a day, the roofers stayed at my house until the rain blew over about 20 minutes later. At about 3pm another 4 workers joined the 8 that were already working at my house. They all stayed ( 12 guys!) until the job was completed. By that time I had several neighbors, who had just got home from work, come over to check things out. Not one of my neighbors could believe that such a large roof was installed in just 1 day! Not to mention that the new roof looked great and enhanced the beauty and value of my home. All I can say is that I had a terrific experience with Universal and my new roof! I would highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a new roof or repair. I found Universal to be a highly reputable company with employees who were professional and customer friendly. Five stars!

My roof required replacement due to damage from Hurricane Irma. It was a pleasure to do business with Universal Roofing. Marty was very patient and responsive. He took the time to answer all of my questions and followed up appropriately. Everyone showed up on time and worked diligently to get the job done. I would definitely recommend Universal Roofing!

The guys at Universal Roof and Contracting were professional, up front, and friendly. Dave, Carson, and Stefan were all easily available and extremely helpful throughout the entire process. The crew was efficient and respectful. They appreciated the table and chairs we had out for them to eat and they made sure the yard was as clean as possible. They came back the next to another magnet sweep and walk through. Highly recommend their services.
