We are sitting in our great room listening to the rain falling on our newly installed roof from Universal. If their workmanship matches their exceptional customer service, then we are comfortable knowing our new roof will be dependable, in our harsh Florida climate, and provide us many years of quality service. We had the pleasure of working with Jon Baker who provided us with the best option for our situation. There was a leak around our chimney, so Jon made some minor repairs to prevent further water intrusion until our project could begin. Tentative scheduling for the install was the end of use February, but was able to get it moved up a week much to our pleasure. Jon kept us abreast of every step in the process which was comforting. My family was installing a new fence at the same time and Jon offered to take away some of the old rotten wood panels! Not surprising when I think about it because in my opinion, he is a man of character and integrity. The crew arrived as scheduled and everything went smoothly. Our install was completed in one day! Care was maintained so as not to damage our driveway or yard. All debris was picked up and I haven’t found a wayward nail yet. So, if you are in need of a new roof, please give Universal Roofing an opportunity to serve you. From beginning to end, Jon, Jarrod and team surpassed our expectations and we would gladly recommend them without hesitation!

The team at universal made our re roof as painless and seamless as possible. David did a great job at the initial inspection in setting our expectations for the project, and Stefan and Karson did an amazing job with communication prior to and during the actual project. We also had an insurance deadline that they kept top of mind and prioritized for us. Highly recommend this team if you are in need of a re roof, or any roofing projects in Jax. Highly professional and on top of things throughout the entire process.
I contacted Universal Roof & Contracting several months ago for an estimate on a new roof for my 3300 square foot house as well as contacting 4 other roofing companies. I knew very little about roofs except that I needed a new one. Marty Liles, Universal's agent, was the second of the 5 estimates that I received. I found him extremely knowledgable, very helpful and easy to work with. Marty wasn't just sent to my house to measure the roof and get back to me with a price. He took his time to explain the differences in products and recommended what he thought was appropriate for my house. When I got the 5 bids I was very confused. Marty was the only representative that was willing to come back to my house and explain the differences in the proposals that I had received. He basically differentiated between the apples and oranges that I had received as quotes for my new roof. I had a comfort level with Marty that the other sales people did not provide. I decided to use Universal based upon the feeling of trust and integrity Marty exuded. The price ended up comparable to the lowest offer for what I wanted ( not a bait and switch scenario I was wary of). The roof was scheduled to be installed about 2-3 weeks after I committed. I was contacted by Ben Daniels, project manager for Universal, to put my job on the calendar. He was very professional and also easy to work with. Ben said it would likely take 2 full days due to size of my house. On the day the roof was to be installed about 8 guys showed up at my house at 6:45am along with Ben. I think by 7am they were working on replacing my old roof with a brand new one. They worked straight through until lunchtime. After lunch they started back to work and after approximately 30 minutes it started to rain. They covered the house so that the there would be no damage. Instead of calling it a day, the roofers stayed at my house until the rain blew over about 20 minutes later. At about 3pm another 4 workers joined the 8 that were already working at my house. They all stayed (12 guys!) until the job was completed. By that time I had neighbors who were home from work and came over to check things out. No one could believe that such a large roof was installed in just 1 day! Not to mention that the new roof looked great and enhanced the beauty and value of my home. All I can say is that I had a fantastic experience with Universal and would highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a roof or repair. I found Universal to be a highly reputable company with employees who were definitely customer friendly and professional. Charles
we had a wonderful experience with Universal roofing. David was so thorough in our initial meeting , explaining everything about the process. Stefan was on site through the entire job, making sure we knew everything that was being done. The crew was careful not to damage our landscaping or the surfaces of the house.
Universal Roofing and Contracting came out to put a new roof on my River House. They did a great job in 3 days. Cleaned up beautifully and handled all the paperwork! Thanks so much!
Very professional and the process was quick and simple
Ben was the “boss man” on the job and he was available, professional and willing to help. Our overall job required an extra for chimney repair and here again ,Ben was on top of things. I’m willing for prospective clients to come by anytime (phone first)
I originally found out about this company through a neighbor, and so I called them for an estimate. I am extremely happy with the end result of my roof, and remain impressed with the politeness and professionalism of both the people that work at the office, and everyone that I know worked on my roof. Through Jordan Huff, I got some of your cards and give them to pretty much anyone who even mentions needing to get their roof fixed. I've gotten so many compliments on my roof, and that just assures me even more that Universal Roof & Contracting was the right decision. I hope your company keeps up the fantastic work and continues to do well in the future. Thank you again! Gisi Taglieri

Universal Roof & Contracting serves Bunnell with every major roofing service — repair, replacement, inspections, storm response, gutters, and all four mainstream roof systems — from our Northeast Florida office. Family-owned since 1993, BBB-accredited with an A+ rating, and Owens Corning Platinum Preferred. This page is the whole picture in one place; every section links to the full service behind it.
Bunnell Homes and What Their Roofs Face
The weather those roofs answer to is measurable. NOAA's 1991–2020 normals for the Jacksonville station put annual rainfall at 53.4 inches, with 54% of it falling June through September and 7.6 inches in June alone. Most of that rain arrives in summer storms, often wind-driven, and it finds any weak flashing detail on Bunnell rooflines quickly.
Combine that rainfall with coastal salt and UV, and Bunnell roofs have a lot working on them. We inspect the details first: flashing, penetrations, the roof edge.
Storms Bunnell Has Answered To
Bunnell sits in the Atlantic storm region, and the record is specific: Nicole (2022) — November landfall at Vero Beach; storm surge and beach erosion damage up the east coast to Jacksonville (NOAA/NHC TCR AL172022). Matthew (2016) — paralleled the northeast Florida coast; significant wind and surge damage from the Space Coast to Jacksonville (NOAA/NHC TCR AL142016).
After any of those, the useful thing a homeowner can do is document from the ground: photograph what is visible, note the date, check ceilings that night and again a week later. Then get a professional assessment before small openings become interior damage. We run storm routes across Flagler County and put findings in writing with photographs — no scare tactics, no inflated damage lists.

Universal Roof & Contracting has been family-owned since 1993 — state-licensed (CCC057165 & CBC1258484), fully insured, BBB-accredited with an A+ rating, and an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, a tier held by fewer than 1% of roofing contractors. Estimates are free and itemized; the inspection comes back as photographs and a written report you keep either way.
Bunnell Roofing Questions
How long do roofs last in Bunnell?
Shingle: about 20 years. Tile: more than 50 with care, per a National Association of Home Builders study. Metal depends on the product, so ask for its warranty term. Installation quality decides which end of the range your roof lands on.
Can a handyman repair a roof in Florida?
No. Florida's licensing agency says roof repairs and roof installations require a state license. Verify the license and insurance before hiring anyone. Universal Roof & Contracting is state-licensed (CCC057165 & CBC1258484) and fully insured.
How long does a roof installation take?
Typically one to three days for a residential replacement. Complexity adds time — tile systems, steep pitches, multiple layers coming off — and commercial jobs scale with the building. Either way you'll know the expected window up front.
