I called Universal Roof to repair a leak betwee a metal roof and an asphalt roof. It required asphalt shingles be removed so a waterproofing system could be applied. The work was started on time but due to rain and lightning the work was stopped for the day. When the waterproofing system was completed. Heavy rains were forcasted so the General Manager, Brandon, and a two man crew came out at 6 pm on a Friday night to replaced the shingles that were removed before the heavy rains came. The problem area has been sucessfully repaired in a timely manner by the skillfull craftsmen of Universal Roof & Contracting. It is now 2022. My roof is showing signs of wear. I called Universal Roof& Contracting, Charles came out took ample time to accurately assess what work that would be needed and gave an estimate. All the scheduling was put in place. The crew showed up on time and immediately spread tarps around the house to protect my bushes and and plants and catch any roof debris. They did their work in a professional manner, they were polite and courteous and completed the work in one day. After the work was complete the crew spent a long time cleaning up, picking up bits of paper, and searching for nails with magnets. From the start the Project Manager kept me informed of what was found after the old shingles were removed and the best way to address each situation. Attention to detail describes how this crew performed their work from the moment they started to the moment they got in their vehicle to leave. My roof looks just like the ones you see in the brochures.

Universal came out a few months ago to inspect my roof. I knew it was old and needed replacement, but had no knowledge on how the process worked. Universals whole staff was amazing to work with and they were experienced in every aspect of their business . Any issues or concerns I had were addressed immediately. they even tarped my roof until they were ready to start to prevent any water damage on the interior. Thanks again Universal!

I contacted Universal Roof & Contracting several months ago for an estimate on a new roof for my 3300 square foot house as well as contacting 4 other roofing companies. I knew very little about roofs except that I needed a new one. Marty Liles, Universal's agent, was the second of the 5 estimates that I received. I found him extremely knowledgable, very helpful and easy to work with. Marty wasn't just sent to my house to measure the roof and get back to me with a price. He took his time to explain the differences in products and recommended what he thought was appropriate for my house. When I got the 5 bids I was very confused. Marty was the only representative that was willing to come back to my house and explain the differences in the proposals that I had received. He basically differentiated between the apples and oranges that I had received as quotes for my new roof. I had a comfort level with Marty that the other sales people did not provide. I decided to use Universal based upon the feeling of trust and integrity Marty exuded. The price ended up comparable to the lowest offer for what I wanted ( not a bait and switch scenario I was wary of). The roof was scheduled to be installed about 2-3 weeks after I committed. I was contacted by Ben Daniels, project manager for Universal, to put my job on the calendar. He was very professional and also easy to work with. Ben said it would likely take 2 full days due to size of my house. On the day the roof was to be installed about 8 guys showed up at my house at 6:45am along with Ben. I think by 7am they were working on replacing my old roof with a brand new one. They worked straight through until lunchtime. After lunch they started back to work and after approximately 30 minutes it started to rain. They covered the house so that the there would be no damage. Instead of calling it a day, the roofers stayed at my house until the rain blew over about 20 minutes later. At about 3pm another 4 workers joined the 8 that were already working at my house. They all stayed (12 guys!) until the job was completed. By that time I had neighbors who were home from work and came over to check things out. No one could believe that such a large roof was installed in just 1 day! Not to mention that the new roof looked great and enhanced the beauty and value of my home. All I can say is that I had a fantastic experience with Universal and would highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a roof or repair. I found Universal to be a highly reputable company with employees who were definitely customer friendly and professional. Charles

About World Golf Village

World Golf Village is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in St. Johns County. It is home to the World Golf Hall of Fame building, an IMAX theater and the World Golf Village Renaissance St. Augustine Resort Convention Center and Hotel.

In June 2023, the World Golf Foundation told the county it planned to move the Hall of Fame and its IMAX theater out of the village. In April 2024, the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners approved a $5.5 million purchase of the foundation's remaining assets there, and the county has committed to keeping the IMAX Theater open. The 2020 Census counted 22,117 residents.

On these roofs

World Golf Village Homes and What Their Roofs Face

The weather those roofs answer to is measurable. NOAA's 1991–2020 normals for the Jacksonville station put annual rainfall at 53.4 inches, with 54% of it falling June through September and 7.6 inches in June alone. Most of that rain arrives in summer storms, often wind-driven, and it finds any weak flashing detail on World Golf Village rooflines quickly.

Humidity, sun, and that rainfall all work on World Golf Village roofs, and edges, penetrations and fasteners are where we start every inspection.

Weather history

Storms World Golf Village Has Answered To

World Golf Village sits in the Atlantic storm region, and the record is specific: Nicole (2022) — November landfall at Vero Beach; storm surge and beach erosion damage up the east coast to Jacksonville (NOAA/NHC TCR AL172022). Matthew (2016) — paralleled the northeast Florida coast; significant wind and surge damage from the Space Coast to Jacksonville (NOAA/NHC TCR AL142016).

After any of those, the useful thing a homeowner can do is document from the ground: photograph what is visible, note the date, check ceilings that night and again a week later. Then get a professional assessment before small openings become interior damage. We run storm routes across St. Johns County and put findings in writing with photographs — no scare tactics, no inflated damage lists.

World Golf Village Roofing Questions

How long does a roof installation take?

One to three days for most World Golf Village homes, start to magnet-swept yard. Tile, steep, and cut-up roofs run longer; commercial ranges from days to weeks by size. You get a realistic window before work starts — and a heads-up if weather moves it.

Repair or replace — how do you decide?

Repair when the damage is local and the roof has life left. Replace when wear is systemic — repeating leaks, widespread granule loss, a field past its span. We photograph what we find and put the recommendation on paper, so you're deciding on evidence rather than a pitch.

What does a roof replacement cost in World Golf Village?

Five inputs set it: size and pitch, how many layers come off, what the decking looks like underneath, which system goes on, and the detail work at flashings and ventilation. That's why quotes-by-phone are guesses. Ours start with a free inspection and arrive itemized, line by line.
