Tom McVicker and Richard Adamson were very helpful and professional in getting my hurricane Milton damage repaired. Complete roof and soffit replacement, their crews were prompt and efficient.

I am thrilled to share my extraordinary experience with Universal Roofing and Contracting in Tampa! Words cannot express the level of gratitude and excitement I feel after being chosen as the recipient of their prestigious Veteran Roof Giveaway. For years, I have been burdened by the stress of dealing with roof issues in my home, but Universal Roofing and Contracting has completely changed the game for me. When I received that life-changing phone call from Richard Adamson who quickly became my favorite person in the world (trust me, you'll adore him too!), informing me that I had won, I was utterly shocked. The ease and simplicity with which he handled the entire process was truly remarkable. He went above and beyond in treating me with utmost respect and kindness. He was also there to help as they were putting on my roof. In fact, I have already recommended this company to my friends, who are eagerly looking forward to working with them in the future. Allow me to give a special shoutout to Thomas McVicker, the project manager overseeing the job. His kindness and professionalism throughout the entire process was truly exceptional. Not only did Universal Roofing and Contracting leave my yard looking impeccably spotless, but their meticulous attention to detail made my new roof an absolute masterpiece. Witnessing the care and dedication they put into their work, I couldn't help but shed tears of joy. The entire staff at Universal Roofing and Contracting consistently delivered top-notch quality work, demonstrating their commitment to excellence. Each and every person who worked for them exuded warmth and genuine kindness. I am beyond grateful for this remarkable experience, and I cannot thank Universal Roofing and Contracting enough for not only providing me with a stunning new roof, but also restoring my faith in exceptional customer service, honesty, and humanity.

Dakota was excellent at explaining what was needed and service cost. Other companies estimates required several calls to get the price Dakota was clear with in the beginning. Yordanis Segura was the project manager the team showed up at 6:30am and the roof was not only completed by 4:30pm but they cleaned up like they had never been there. I also appreciated the gutter replacement was included in the roof price. The supplies and dumpster were delivered with care leaving space for me to still park in my garage. I cannot recommend them enough.

Before the work begins

St. Pete Beach Roof Work: Recovery and Historic Context

St. Pete Beach maintains its own hurricane-recovery permitting guidance, separate from the City of St. Petersburg. The guidance points owners to iWorQ and distinguishes temporary protection from categories of repair. Use the current city instructions for the actual scope; old storm-era deadlines and temporary procedures should not be assumed to remain in force.

If the property is in Pass-a-Grille or has a historic designation, check that status before selecting a visibly different roof. The city provides Historic Preservation Board resources and information about the Pass-a-Grille National Historic District. This does not establish the rules for every beach property. Ask which review applies to the address, and retain the proposed material, color and visible-detail information with the work description.

A storm-recovery project may include more than the roof. Separate roof-covering damage, water-entry investigation, interior repairs and any other building work in the estimate. Identify the person coordinating those scopes so one contractor’s schedule does not leave another part of the building exposed. For an association-managed property, confirm who can authorize the assessment and provide roof access. Documented observations about the roof should guide the work; a regional storm alone does not prove damage to a particular building.

The inspection conversation

Repair or Replacement for Your St. Pete Beach Property

For a St. Pete Beach roof assessment, explain what was visible before any temporary protection was installed and share dated photos from a safe location. Ask which areas can be inspected and which remain covered. The next repair scope should identify its limits and the conditions that need further investigation.

Before replacing a St. Pete Beach roof, confirm city review requirements, any property-specific historic considerations and how the roof scope fits other recovery work. Keep proposed materials and access arrangements in the same plan. The suitable system depends on the assessed building and documented requirements, not simply its beach address.

What we see here

St. Pete Beach Homes and What Their Roofs Face

The weather those roofs answer to is measurable. NOAA's 1991–2020 normals for the St Petersburg Ap station put annual rainfall at 46.65 inches, with 63% of it falling June through September and 8.39 inches in August alone. Most of that rain arrives in summer storms, often wind-driven, and it finds any weak flashing detail on St. Pete Beach rooflines quickly.

Salt, sun, and that rainfall all work on St. Pete Beach roofs, and edges, penetrations and fasteners are where we start every inspection.

Not sure which of these your roof needs?

The free inspection answers it with photos and a written report.

The named systems

Storms St. Pete Beach Has Answered To

St. Pete Beach sits in the Gulf storm region, and the record is specific: Helene (2024) — dangerous storm surge into the Gulf coast, including coastal Pinellas (NOAA/NHC TCR AL092024). Milton (2024) — landfall on Siesta Key; 20.40" of rain near St. Petersburg; record crests on the Hillsborough River (NOAA/NHC TCR AL142024).

After any of those, the useful thing a homeowner can do is document from the ground: photograph what is visible, note the date, check ceilings that night and again a week later. Then get a professional assessment before small openings become interior damage. We run storm routes across Pinellas County and put findings in writing with photographs — no scare tactics, no inflated damage lists.

Straight answers

St. Pete Beach Roofing Questions

Is St. Pete Beach roof permitting the same as St. Petersburg?

They are separate municipalities. St. Pete Beach publishes its own recovery guidance and links its iWorQ process. Use the authority responsible for the property address.

What should a Pass-a-Grille owner check before changing roofing?

Confirm the property’s historic status and any applicable review with the city. Gather photos and proposed material details before committing to a visible change.

Does an ended storm warning establish roof damage here?

No. It describes regional weather, not the condition of one roof. Use property observations and an inspection to determine whether work is needed.

What should a St. Pete Beach roof replacement estimate include?

Look for the measured roof areas, chosen covering and underlayment, included edge and penetration work, disposal, and any exclusions. Ask how concealed damage will be documented and approved before extra work proceeds.

Can you assess a repair before recommending replacement?

Yes. An inspection helps distinguish a contained problem from wider deterioration. Ask which materials can remain, what the proposed repair addresses and whether any areas could not be inspected.

Is the roof inspection in St. Pete Beach free?

Yes. Universal offers a free roof inspection with photos and a written condition report, without an obligation to buy roofing work. Request a visit through the inspection form or call to discuss the property.

How should I plan the roof-work schedule?

Confirm material selection, access and any applicable approvals first. Ask for a project-specific window and how weather or concealed conditions could affect it. Do not assume every roof can be finished in the same number of days.

What information helps when I book a visit?

The property address, the building type, a description of the concern and any previous roof records. Tell us about separate additions, access arrangements or an association contact before the inspection.
