Having a re-roof is a stressful time but I knew to call Universal Roofing Inc from my previous experience with them from my old address. It's a step-by-step process (weather permitting) which Tracy (V.P.) walked me through. From customer service, explanation of roof products, to permits and completion was less stressful having an experienced company... and roof looks great! Thank you Universal Roofing Inc.

Soffit & Fascia Repair in Tampa
The eave is where storm wind gets its first grip on a roof, and Tampa Bay found that out properly in 2024. Blown soffit panels, loosened fascia and salt-degraded fixings are still turning up across the Bay two seasons later.

Fantastic customer service. Kenneth was great. Very professional. Found problem within minutes and fixed. Would recommend for repairs and full roof replacement.
Universal roofing did an amazing job. Everyone I worked with was very professional and polite. They professionally helped me out throughout the entire process. In the middle of summer it only took them a day and a half and I have a wonderful roof.
1 of 1
The Bay Area roof edge, after 2024
The 2024 storms did most of their visible damage at the edges. Wind gets under the overhang first, and once a soffit panel goes the cavity is open — from there the wind is working directly on the deck, the insulation and whatever else is up there. A lot of Bay homes had panels replaced quickly and the fascia behind them never checked.
Salt is the constant underneath that. Across Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota, salt degrades the fixings holding soffit panels and fascia boards long before the material itself gives up. That's why a Bay eave can look perfectly sound and come away in a storm that shouldn't have taken it.
The third Bay factor is the low-slope stock. Florida rooms and flat additions have their own edge details, often built later than the house and not always to the same standard — and they are where we most often find rot that has been quietly progressing for years.
What we actually find
Storm-lost soffit panels
Replaced quickly after 2024 in many cases, with the fascia behind them never inspected.
Salt-degraded fixings
Near the water the fasteners fail first, so panels come away in wind that shouldn't have moved them.
Rot at low-slope additions
Florida-room edge details, often built later and to a different standard than the main house.
Gutter-driven fascia rot
The Bay's sea-breeze storms overload one elevation, and the board behind that run pays for it.
Repair, replacement and ventilation
Fascia replacement
The board along the roof edge that carries your gutter — matched and refitted with correct drip edge.
Soffit repair
Panels under the overhang, including the vents your attic breathes through.
Ventilation correction
Clearing blocked intake so the attic loop actually works — often the cheapest fix on the list.
Pest and storm damage
Closing the gaps that let squirrels, birds and wasps into the roof cavity.
A common cause of fascia rot we find is a gutter that stopped coping. If yours overflows, backs up or has pulled loose, start with seamless gutters in Tampa — replacing the board without fixing the cause just resets the clock.

How much does soffit and fascia repair cost in Tampa?
It varies with how much of the run is affected, the height, and whether damage has reached the rafter tails. Coastal properties often need upgraded fixings too. We inspect and quote in writing before any work, and the inspection is free.
My soffit blew out in 2024 and was replaced. Should I still check it?
Worth doing. A lot of Bay panels were replaced quickly after the 2024 storms without anyone checking the fascia board behind them or the fixings holding the rest of the run. If the panel went, the wind had already been working on the cavity — and that's where the consequential damage sits.
Why do Bay Area eaves fail in wind that shouldn't move them?
Because salt has usually degraded the fixings first. Across Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota, fasteners and hangers corrode well ahead of the panels and boards they hold, so the assembly is far weaker than it looks. Upgraded fixings on a coastal property are worth more than upgrading the material.
Do you repair soffit and fascia on Florida rooms and additions?
Yes, and they're where we find a lot of it. Low-slope additions were often built later than the house and not always to the same standard, and their edge details are where rot tends to progress quietly for years before anything shows inside.
Which Bay Area areas do you cover?
St. Petersburg, Brandon, Clearwater, Riverview, Lakeland, Sarasota and Wesley Chapel, across Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Manatee and Sarasota counties.
Rot at the Tampa roof edge?
A free inspection covers the roof, the edge and the gutters together — photos, a written report, and an honest answer about how much actually needs doing.
