Outstanding experience from sales through installation. Universal Roof and Contracting exudes integrity and professionalism, separating them from other roofing companies. Project Mgr Spence provided excellent and honest communication throughout the installation, which I truly appreciated. I will be a loyal customer of Universal Roof and Contracting going forward and will be recommending them to anyone needing roofing work. You can trust this company to do the right thing.

Cory Callahan was the person who came out and sold me on Universal doing my roof. His manner just made you feel you would be taken care of thru the process. The crew working on the roof were so efficient and worked as a team. The roof would have taken just one day but I had to have quite a bit of wood replaced. They cleaned up so well. No old shingles or trash around house and best part no roof nails. The individual who ran the job was on top of everything. A roof is a big investment and Universal realizes that as does Cory. In today’s world when you find a sales person that is trustworthy and honest, consider yourself lucky. Cory is just that person. I love my roof.

About Hunters Creek

Hunters Creek is an unincorporated community and census-designated place covering 6.5 square miles in the southwest corner of Orange County. Orange County describes the development as 35 single-family neighborhoods, seven apartment communities, four condominium properties and one townhome neighborhood.

The county notes that the community is well known for its amenities and for the many volunteers who serve it in a range of roles. The 2020 Census counted 24,433 residents.

On these roofs

Hunters Creek Homes and What Their Roofs Face

The weather those roofs answer to is measurable. NOAA's 1991–2020 normals for the Orlando Intl Ap station put annual rainfall at 51.45 inches, with 57% of it falling June through September and 8.05 inches in June alone. Most of that rain arrives in summer storms, often wind-driven, and it finds any weak flashing detail on Hunters Creek rooflines quickly.

Add relentless inland humidity and Florida UV, and all of it works on Hunters Creek roofs. Edges, penetrations and fasteners are where our inspections start here.

Weather history

Storms Hunters Creek Has Answered To

Hunters Creek sits in the inland storm region, and the record is specific: Irma (2017) — crossed Central Florida as a hurricane; minor to moderate damage to many structures, widespread tree damage (NOAA/NHC TCR AL112017). Milton (2024) — hurricane-force gusts in Central Florida near the track; 14.83" of rain recorded near Orlando (NOAA/NHC TCR AL142024).

After any of those, the useful thing a homeowner can do is document from the ground: photograph what is visible, note the date, check ceilings that night and again a week later. Then get a professional assessment before small openings become interior damage. We run storm routes across Orange County and put findings in writing with photographs — no scare tactics, no inflated damage lists.

Hunters Creek Roofing Questions

How long do roofs last in Hunters Creek?

Realistic numbers for Hunters Creek: architectural asphalt shingle about 20 years and clay or concrete tile more than 50 years with proper care, based on a National Association of Home Builders study. Metal life depends on the product, so ask for its warranty term. Installation quality decides which end of the range your roof lands on.

Can a handyman repair a roof in Florida?

No. Florida's licensing agency says roof repairs and roof installations require a state license. Verify the license and insurance before hiring anyone. Universal Roof & Contracting is state-licensed (CCC057165 & CBC1258484) and fully insured.

How long does a roof installation take?

Typically one to three days for a residential replacement. Complexity adds time — tile systems, steep pitches, multiple layers coming off — and commercial jobs scale with the building. Either way you'll know the expected window up front.
