One employee stood out with my experience with Universal Roofing and Contracting and that was Thomas. He had the ability to navigate and thrive despite his company’s challenges in communication. Where others struggled he stepped up to make a difference with customer service. His initiative in bridging communication gaps have been nothing short of remarkable. Management need to step up and give this gentleman some help. Without him it was not going well. Thanks to Thomas in the end I am very happy with the roof, looks great at a fair price.

About Land O' Lakes

Land O' Lakes is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Pasco County. According to the county, the area first saw settlers in the 1850s, when it was known as Pleasant Plains. Today Pasco County has a central permitting office and a public library there.

The Southwest Florida Water Management District manages the 3,486-acre Conner Preserve, a former ranch acquired in 2003 to protect natural systems, groundwater recharge, water quality and flood protection. It offers multiuse trails through sandhill ridges, marshes, cypress sloughs and pine flatwoods. The 2020 Census counted 35,929 residents.

On these roofs

Land O' Lakes Homes and What Their Roofs Face

The weather those roofs answer to is measurable. NOAA's 1991–2020 normals for the St Petersburg Ap station put annual rainfall at 46.65 inches, with 63% of it falling June through September and 8.39 inches in August alone. Most of that rain arrives in summer storms, often wind-driven, and it finds any weak flashing detail on Land O' Lakes rooflines quickly.

Add relentless inland humidity and Florida UV, and all of it works on Land O' Lakes roofs. Edges, penetrations and fasteners are where our inspections start here.

Weather history

Storms Land O' Lakes Has Answered To

Land O' Lakes sits in the Gulf storm region, and the record is specific: Helene (2024) — dangerous storm surge into the Gulf coast, including coastal Pinellas (NOAA/NHC TCR AL092024). Milton (2024) — landfall on Siesta Key; 20.40" of rain near St. Petersburg; record crests on the Hillsborough River (NOAA/NHC TCR AL142024).

After any of those, the useful thing a homeowner can do is document from the ground: photograph what is visible, note the date, check ceilings that night and again a week later. Then get a professional assessment before small openings become interior damage. We run storm routes across Pasco County and put findings in writing with photographs — no scare tactics, no inflated damage lists.

Land O' Lakes Roofing Questions

How long do roofs last in Land O' Lakes?

In Land O' Lakes plan on about 20 years from architectural shingle and more than 50 from clay or concrete tile with proper care, based on a National Association of Home Builders study. Metal life depends on the product, so ask for its warranty term. The installer's discipline matters more to those numbers than the brand on the wrapper.

Can a handyman repair a roof in Florida?

Florida's licensing agency says no: roof repairs and roof installations require a state license. Before anyone touches your roof, verify the state license and the insurance behind it. We hold CCC057165 & CBC1258484 and full coverage.

How long does a roof installation take?

One to three days for most Land O' Lakes homes, start to magnet-swept yard. Tile, steep, and cut-up roofs run longer; commercial ranges from days to weeks by size. You get a realistic window before work starts — and a heads-up if weather moves it.
