We are very pleased with our experience with Universal Roof and Contracting. Estimator Daniel guided us through the process and the production team covered every step in detail. Project Manager Thomas provided great communication on the schedule, progress, and was in constant contact. The on-site crew was professional, respectful of us and our property and worked from dawn to dark for two days, ending with a thorough cleanup. We highly recommend Universal Roof. They work all over the State.

Rich Adamson from Universal made a horrific experience into a tolerable one. Following hurricane Ian, we needed to get a new roof. Rich fought hard for us all through the insurance process. We ended up having to sue our carrier for coverage of the damage but Rich’s calm demeanor and knowledgeable resources helped us go step by step through the process. We now have a new roof and we couldn’t be happier. I would recommend Universal Roof and Rich to anyone without hesitation.
I want to give a special mention to Johnathan Gil at Universal Roofing. Our roof looks fantastic! We really appreciate all of your hard work and commitment. Johnathan took the time to address all of our concerns and answer our questions throughout the entire process, ensuring we were happy in the end. He even checked in a few weeks after the job was finished. Universal Roofing Tampa definitely deserves five stars! Thank you! The Kenyons.
On January 2024 I had wind damage, after contact my insurance, I called Mr David Roman, and I explained my situation. Universal roof & contracting it’s has been very professional with un excellent customer service easy to communicate. Mr. David came to my house and explained to me all the details for the roof replacement, he always answered my calls, he’s a very smart and knowledgeable person as well the rest of the great team at Universal roof & contracting seem around my street many houses getting theirs roof replaced, but you can see the difference and quality of the job in my house, It was done professionally. I’m being very blessed to have my roof replaced for a professional and great company like Universal roof & contracting, thanks and thanks to Mr David Roman!
Dakota was excellent at explaining what was needed and service cost. Other companies estimates required several calls to get the price Dakota was clear with in the beginning. Yordanis Segura was the project manager the team showed up at 6:30am and the roof was not only completed by 4:30pm but they cleaned up like they had never been there. I also appreciated the gutter replacement was included in the roof price. The supplies and dumpster were delivered with care leaving space for me to still park in my garage. I cannot recommend them enough.
I’d like to thank Brian Blakely for the great job done. I was very worried that I would get scammed but he was so patient with me and my grandpa 👴🏾 showing us step by step how the process worked. You rock Brian. I will refer universal roofing company to anyone.
Yordanis took great care of us from start to finish & patiently answered my way to many questions. Crew was courteous, respectful of our property, did a nice clean up & a great job. Above & beyond is still out there.
Excellent service. Extensive water damage discovered and repaired on my roof. We had no idea since our home was only 10 years old. Before long we would have had water damage inside the house if not discovered and repaired. URC did a great job for us! Very pleased with the results.
Was very pleased with Universal. They were wonderful to work with and made it so easy for me as I live in CT and was selling my parents home in FL. They helped with financing and kept me in contact with the crew supervisor throughout the projects. I received constant updates and status reports, no surprises - when they saw I needed additional sheeting, they got permission from me first rather than surprising me at the conclusion of the job. They sent pictures showing their inspection findings as well as final pictures. I couldn't be more pleased with Mr. Yordanis Segura and his team. Job well done, highly recommend.

What Brooksville Does to a Roof
Roofs across the Nature Coast answer to three things, all year, every year. Here's what each one does — with the numbers behind it.
Sun
Strong sun breaks down shingle asphalt and fades finishes over time, so Florida roofs need regular checks.
Humidity
Inland Florida trades salt for humidity: algae grows on shaded slopes, and poor attic ventilation traps heat and moisture under the roof.
Storms
Summer squall lines and the occasional named storm bring hard, wind-driven rain that finds every weak detail.
46.65"
annual rainfall at the St Petersburg Ap station
63%
of it falls June through September
8.39"
in August alone — the peak month

Roof Repair in Brooksville
Roof damage in Brooksville often starts small and moves fast once water finds a path. Catching it early is the whole game.

We run repair crews through the Nature Coast year-round. The visit covers the damage plus the field, flashing, and penetrations around it — repairs that buy years beat replacements that weren't necessary yet.
Emergencies get tarped same-visit where access allows, with the permanent fix documented in photos behind it.
Shingles gone after a blow
Wind takes the weakest tabs first. A same-month repair keeps the deck dry underneath.
Granules in the gutters
Shingle surfaces shedding — the field is aging, and it's time to watch it.
Water marks inside
The drip point is almost never below the entry point. Finding the real path is the job.
Flashing and fastener wear
A common leak point, and one Florida weather works on early.
Roof Replacement
What actually drives a replacement quote — and how concealed damage is handled if tear-off uncovers it.

A completed Universal replacement — one to three days on most homes.
The quote you get is an itemized scope, not a number on a business card — and it's built from what your roof actually needs: tear-off depth, decking condition, the material system, and the flashing and ventilation details that decide whether a roof reaches its rated life. As an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred contractor, our warranty options go beyond what the standard tiers allow.
Around the Nature Coast, we schedule replacements ahead of storm season where the calendar allows, bundle roof-edge work when it makes financial sense, and finish most homes in one to three days — protected landscaping and a magnet-swept yard included.
Size, pitch & complexity
Cut-up roofs with dormers and valleys take longer than simple gables — and price accordingly.
Tear-off & decking
How many layers come up, and what the decking looks like once exposed. You approve anything it reveals.
The material system
Shingle, metal, tile, or slate — specified for Florida exposure, not upsold.
Flashing & ventilation
The details that separate a code-minimum job from one that reaches its rated life.
Every Brooksville replacement starts with the free inspection.
Roof Inspections
In Brooksville we recommend checking your roof twice a year, in spring and fall, plus after any major storm. Our professional inspection is free, with a written report you keep either way.
Field & fasteners
Wear, granule loss, and fastener condition across the whole covering.
Flashing & penetrations
Common leak points, so we check every boot, valley, and transition.
The roof edge
Soffit, fascia, and gutters for rot, separation, and pest entry.
The attic side
Moisture staining, ventilation problems, and daylight where there shouldn't be any.
Findings come back as photographs and a written condition report — not a verbal opinion from the driveway. Many inspections end with "you're fine, here's what to watch," and the report is yours whether or not you ever hire us. If you're buying or selling in Hernando County, the same visit produces the roof documentation the transaction needs, from a licensed contractor rather than a checklist service.

Storm Damage in Brooksville
Being inland doesn't excuse a roof in Brooksville. Irma crossed the middle of the state as a hurricane, and Milton brought hurricane-force gusts to Central Florida. After it passes, a five-minute ground check tells you whether to call.
01 Ground scan first
Never climb after a storm. Missing tabs, sagging ridge lines, and displaced flashing all show from the yard.
02 Read the downspouts
A pile of granules at the splash block is the roof reporting damage.
03 Circle the property
Shingle pieces and drip-edge sections in the grass map where the wind got in.
04 Check ceilings that night
And again in a week — storm water can take days to show inside.
05 Document and call
Photos with dates from the ground; our written assessment fills in the rest.
Helene
dangerous storm surge into the Gulf coast, including coastal Pinellas (NOAA/NHC TCR AL092024)
Milton
landfall on Siesta Key; 20.40" of rain near St. Petersburg; record crests on the Hillsborough River (NOAA/NHC TCR AL142024)
Ian
one of the costliest hurricanes in Florida history; severe wind and flooding across the southwest coast (NOAA/NHC TCR AL092022)
Storm response here works in two speeds: immediate protection (tarps and temporary seals, same visit where access allows) and documented assessment (photographs, findings, and repair scope in writing). No scare tactics, no inflated damage lists. We have been roofing in Florida since 1993.
Residential Roofing
The right roof for a Brooksville home follows the house, the owner's horizon, and the budget across thirty years — not the material a salesman happens to carry.

62.7% of occupied homes in Brooksville are owner-occupied, and the median owner-occupied home value is $141,000 (U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts, 2020–2024). Ours is the math of protecting that investment: the right system, installed to specification, maintained on a schedule.
We install every mainstream system — shingle, metal, tile, and flat — so the recommendation follows your house and budget, not whichever material a contractor happens to sell. The full comparison is below.
The house & neighborhood
Age, style, and what the street is built around — a roof has to belong where it lives.
Your ownership horizon
Selling in five years and staying thirty produce different right answers.
Budget, now vs. 30 years
Upfront cost against lifetime cost — repairs, energy, and how many more roofs you'll buy.
Installation quality
The same materials last longer or fail early depending on underlayment, ventilation, and flashing work.
Not sure which of these your roof needs?
The free inspection answers it with photos and a written report.
Commercial Roofing
A commercial roof in Brooksville protects inventory, equipment, and people, and it is built under the Florida Building Code, rated among the strongest of the hurricane-coast states by IBHS.

Commercial decisions in Brooksville come down to decades-math: purchase price against energy costs, storm resilience, and maintenance across the building's life. We'll show the comparison for your specific building rather than defaulting to whichever membrane is on the truck.
Then maintenance decides everything: annual and post-storm inspections, drains kept clear, membrane and flashing repairs done promptly. Our plans put all of it on a documented schedule so the roof's history is always current and provable.
The 25% rule
If more than 25% of a roof section is repaired or replaced within 12 months, the whole section must meet current code, unless the roof was built to the 2007 Florida Building Code or later.
Licensing & permits
Commercial roof repairs and installations require a Florida-licensed contractor, and most need a permit from the local building department.
System choice
TPO for energy efficiency; metal for hurricane resistance and lifespan; modified bitumen where the deck calls for it.
Maintenance cadence
Annual and post-storm inspections, clear drains, prompt membrane repairs — where commercial roofs are won or lost.
Gutters, Soffit & Fascia
Gutters, soffit, and fascia do unglamorous work — and in Brooksville they take the weather's first hit, every single day.

Fix the contained stuff, replace the far-gone stuff, and bundle edge work with any roof replacement — one mobilization instead of two. Seamless aluminum gutters carry our rainfall with the fewest joints to fail; vinyl soffit and aluminum fascia resist what the air here does to lesser materials.
Soft or spongy fascia
The material underneath is already compromised — past the repair window.
Stains on exterior walls
Water escaping the drainage path and running where it shouldn't.
Sagging, overflowing gutters
Chronic overflow usually means repairs are no longer keeping up.
Rust at the seams
Sectional gutters fail at their joints — seamless aluminum has far fewer of them.

| System | Realistic Florida life | Wind rating (installed right) | Cost tier | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metal (standing seam) | Varies by product; ask for the warranty term | Product-specific; we show you the rating | $$$ | Longevity, storms, energy bills |
| Architectural shingle | About 20 years | Class H shingles: rated for design wind speeds up to 194 mph | $ | Value, fast storm repairs |
| Tile (clay/concrete) | Over 50 years | High, code-driven | $$$ | Permanence, the Florida look |
| Metlok (only at Universal) | 50-year limited lifetime warranty | 180+ mph tested wind rating | $$$ | Longevity, high-wind exposure |
What moves every quote regardless of material: pitch and complexity, the product tier within the material, specialist labor where tile demands it, and structural reinforcement when weight requires it. Florida law also requires insurers to offer premium credits for wind-resistant construction features — a wind mitigation inspection documents what your roof qualifies for.

Brooksville Roofing Questions
How long do roofs last in Brooksville?
In Brooksville plan on about 20 years from architectural shingle and more than 50 from clay or concrete tile with proper care, based on a National Association of Home Builders study. Metal life depends on the product, so ask for its warranty term. The installer's discipline matters more to those numbers than the brand on the wrapper.
Repair or replace — how do you decide?
Localized damage on a roof with life left: repair. Widespread wear, repeating leaks, or a roof near the end of its lifespan: replacement is often a better value than repeated patching. We put the recommendation in writing with photos so you can decide without pressure.
What should I do right after storm damage?
Photograph what you can see safely from the ground, note the date, and get a professional inspection before small openings become interior leaks. We handle emergency work across Hernando County and put findings in writing with photos.
Can a handyman repair a roof in Florida?
Not legally. Florida's licensing agency says roof repairs and roof installations require a state license. Ask for the license number before hiring anyone; ours are CCC057165 & CBC1258484.
What does a roof replacement cost in Brooksville?
Five inputs set it: size and pitch, how many layers come off, what the decking looks like underneath, which system goes on, and the detail work at flashings and ventilation. That's why quotes-by-phone are guesses. Ours start with a free inspection and arrive itemized, line by line.
Is the inspection really free?
Yes, genuinely: no fee, no obligation, and you keep the written report and photos either way. It's how we've introduced ourselves to Florida homeowners since 1993 — many inspections end with good news and a watch list.
How long does a roof installation take?
Most residential replacements finish in one to three days. Tile and complex roofs run longer, and commercial projects range from days to weeks by size. We give you a realistic window up front.
What time of year is best for roof work here?
Exterior work runs year-round in Florida, but fall is the sweet spot for big projects — easier on crews and materials, and it puts a sound roof over you before the next storm season instead of after it.
What is the 25% roof rule in Florida?
Under the Florida Building Code, repairing or replacing more than 25% of a roof section within 12 months generally means the whole section must be brought up to current code. Roofs built to the 2007 code or later are exempt: only the repaired part must meet current code.
