Justin came to our home today for roof inspection after major hail storm in or area , he was friendly , easy for my husband and I to communicate with . After inspecting our roof , we were told although roof had been hit by hail , we did not need roof replacement , we appreciated his honesty , he even provided maitnence tips for us to help extend the life of our roof . We never felt rushed with our questions , he was very professional , we definitely reccommend this company .We have used them prior to this with another home in past that did require new roof , and they did great job then as well , very professional to deal with .

Universal Roof and Contracting just completed installation of my new roof, and I am more than satisfied with the job they did! Spence, the project manager, was on the job-site every day, and made sure the entire process went smoothly, and on time. He was always available to answer any of my questions, and was a pleasure to work with! I just spoke with the building inspector, and he said our roof was the first one he passed today. He also said that Universal always does things the right way. I would highly recommend Universal Roof!

About Orange City

Orange City is an incorporated city in Volusia County. In 1875 seven men bought about 5,000 acres and started the town, and it was incorporated on August 26, 1882, named for the thousands of acres of orange groves planted in and around it. Twelve years later, the Big Freeze wiped out those groves.

The 1876 Heritage Inn, the town's first hotel, begun in 1875, is still open for business. Town Hall, built in 1928 in the style of a New England town hall, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. The 2020 Census counted 12,632 residents.

On these roofs

Orange City Homes and What Their Roofs Face

The weather those roofs answer to is measurable. NOAA's 1991–2020 normals for the Orlando Intl Ap station put annual rainfall at 51.45 inches, with 57% of it falling June through September and 8.05 inches in June alone. Most of that rain arrives in summer storms, often wind-driven, and it finds any weak flashing detail on Orange City rooflines quickly.

Add relentless inland humidity and Florida UV, and all of it works on Orange City roofs. Edges, penetrations and fasteners are where our inspections start here.

Storm exposure

Storms Orange City Has Answered To

Orange City sits in the Atlantic storm region, and the record is specific: Nicole (2022) — November landfall at Vero Beach; storm surge and beach erosion damage up the east coast to Jacksonville (NOAA/NHC TCR AL172022). Matthew (2016) — paralleled the northeast Florida coast; significant wind and surge damage from the Space Coast to Jacksonville (NOAA/NHC TCR AL142016).

After any of those, the useful thing a homeowner can do is document from the ground: photograph what is visible, note the date, check ceilings that night and again a week later. Then get a professional assessment before small openings become interior damage. We run storm routes across Volusia County and put findings in writing with photographs — no scare tactics, no inflated damage lists.

Straight answers

Orange City Roofing Questions

What should I do right after storm damage?

Three things: stay off the roof, photograph what's visible from the ground with the date, and get professional eyes up there quickly, because even small openings let water reach the decking. We run storm assessments across Volusia County with tarping available the same visit where roofs need immediate protection.

Is the inspection really free?

Yes — photos, honest findings, and a written condition report, free, whether or not you hire us for anything. Many inspections end with 'you're fine, here's what to watch.'

How long do roofs last in Orange City?

In Orange City plan on about 20 years from architectural shingle and more than 50 from clay or concrete tile with proper care, based on a National Association of Home Builders study. Metal life depends on the product, so ask for its warranty term. The installer's discipline matters more to those numbers than the brand on the wrapper.
