18 Apr Universal Contracting Community Works – Camp Challenge
This February, Universal Roof & Contracting owners received an important letter containing a very special request. Everett, a 15 year old Boy Scout, asked for our help with his Eagle Scout service project. In cooperation with Easter Seals Florida, he and his dad are overseeing the renovation of the outdoor facilities at Camp Challenge where his 12 year old brother attends summer camp. This will be our first Community Works campground facility project, and we are pleased that it will not only help a Boy Scout of America reach his goal but will help improve the lives of hundreds of children and adults with disabilities or special needs. This Easter Seals facility has been a favored summer camp to thousands of disabled or special needs children and adults since 1961. (See video.) The camp was designed to provide programs to help them gain greater independence – and help them live learn, work and play in our community. Everett’s project is to refurbish and fence in the target shooting pavilion area used for paint ball fun and archery practice, and Universal Roof & Contracting is pleased to lend a hand by donating the replacement of the archery pavilion roof.
So on Saturday, April 19th, our professional roofers along with about 30 company associates and family members will be spending the day in the park! Equipped with paint brushes, hammers and tool belts, together we will restore this favored summer camp pavilion as well as assemble and erect a storage building to be used for the camp’s sporting and archery equipment.
