You are In the House with Ken and Jared. It’s a little bit different show this weekend because I am neither Ken nor Jared. They are both out of town, so they asked me to fill in, which I love doing. It’s a fun show to do; it’s great to talk to people about some of my experiences out there in the real world. My name is Jim Sellers. I am the Director of Sales for Universal Roof & Contracting and Renewal by Andersen of Florida. If you have any questions about home improvement items or home improvement questions, certainly we will do our best to answer them.
I am a licensed general contractor here in the state of Florida – and I actually built my house with my own hands. I was teaching at the time, and I did everything on the house with some help from my dad and my brother. A few other people here and there, but I actually did it. I’ve done a lot of general contracting, from the planning and oversight perspective, and I’ve also done a lot of hands-on work.

I do want to spend a couple of minutes talking about siding because there is a lot of siding in Florida, as you know. That’s a serious concern here because a lot of the older homes with the wood siding and that traditional look, you really do have to keep an eye on.
If it comes time to re-side or do repairs, we often suggest James Hardy Siding®; it is a great option. For instance, Florida products require UV rating and have uplift resistance, among other features, to combat our severe weather conditions. It really is a great product for this market.
