FRSA Educational Foundation Supports RICOWI
The FRSA Educational & Research Foundation is pleased to announce its support for the Roofing Industry Committee on Weather Issues (RICOWI).On April 11, 2014, FRSA Educational Foundation Trustees voted and approved a $1,000 donation to the RICOWI Wind Investigation Program (WIP), supporting valuable industry-related research in the form of hurricane investigation and reporting. The program puts together teams of experts in the field to ensure that final results and reports are sound, scientific and applicable to future construction planning.
In response to the donation, Mark Zehnal, FRSA Director of Technical Services stated, “I’ve had the privilege to be engaged at the local, state and national levels in roofing related issues and organizations such as RICOWI. The donation from the FRSA Educational & Research Foundation to the RICOWI Wind Investigation Program (WIP) funds vital research. After a category II wind event, RICOWI WIP teams move into action to collect valuable firsthand information about the successes and failures of roofing systems and associated components. RICOWI then uses the data for the purpose of improving building codes, roof systems design, and education of the industry and public.”
With the FRSA Educational & Research Foundation’s focus on industry-based education and research, RICOWI’s Wind Investigation Program is well aligned with the Foundation’s purpose and mission for industry excellence throughout Florida.
